Before you we have the belt buckles from three different belts I found in my uncle's collection. There is no doubt when and where they came from.

For me, the variation is rather surprising. I'm certainly not a historian but I would have thought these things would have all been identical from day one for cheap and efficient mass production.

The Belt buckle was part of the Uniform of a Unit, and each was individualized.

For example, I've seen a "Princess Patricia's Engineering" belt buckle, from the British Commonwealth from the same era.
